David Wyn, Freelance Translation Services

David has excellent bilingual communication skills; and began translating from English to Welsh for Radio Ceredigion in 1997 after completing an English degree in Manchester.

His chance to work freelance came in 2012 after winning Welsh Government funding to promote traditional Welsh cultures such as singing and folk dancing through an Aberystwyth University MA supported jointly by Telesgop television company. This led to him setting up his independent production company 'Dai Lingual' and producing 5 radio programmes for BBC Radio Cymru.

After re-establishing “Y Cymro” newspaper and website as its editor, Huffington Post’s founder, Arianna Huffington invited him to write about wellbeing on her new ‘Thrive Global’ platform.

Since then, he has enjoyed working with the Bectu team in Wales to translate and promote their media training and events, and to facilitate the evaluation and planning of their work by preparing questionnaires.

David has been eager to help people who have lost work and opportunities during the Corona virus lockdown period so working with Social Firms Wales to create their Welsh copy is a very important part of his week.

David has supported the creative sector since the onset of the lockdown period – particularly under-represented groups – by campaigning with What’s Next Cymru on a voluntary basis, which has included establishing and promoting their facebook presence.
